Reflections on Painting...98-99
These are the big paintings. The ones that start out at 5 feet wide at least or 5 feet tall. The ones influenced by time magazine ads from the late 50's and reading Jack Kerouac. I was teaching at Lansdowne High School and finding immense absurdity in my life as well as in these ads. The people all dressed up to go walk in the woods, the smiling woman as she gets her grave stone designed, the husband giving the stewardess the eye while his wife is oblivious to his actions. While in the background I'm reading Kerouac spitting his muses and observations while listening to Dave Brubeck and Miles in my third floor fells point studio...this is how I lived my life while avoiding the floors below me.
