new patches

so sorry for being so lame on the posts. This school year has gotten crazzzzzy busy...which I am not liking. We've gotten some snow and I was fortunate to have two snow days last week and 2 hours late today! Snow and ice are teachers favorite friends in the winter time! But I am looking towards spring and looking at spring shows to do. Looking at spreading my birdy bird wings to Richmond Va and Philadelphia this spring ! I really enjoyed getting out of charm city last year. So this year's goal is to go even farther. Thanks to Property taxes my funds have been on the way low, so I've been making what I can with what I got. Here's more patches...they can be purchased for a wee $4 each on my shop...makes a sweet Valentine present for the little ones or your special sweetie!

how I spent my snow day!

I needed a good day to work out a new bag design. the pattern is by amy karol...the water tower drawing is mine... drawn with my machine. Fabrics are what I have left over from the holiday season products. I'm liking the pattern and the water tower....any comments would be very much appreciated....to sell or not to sell?

Holiday Heap TOmorrow!!!

So i'm so excited for tomorrow's holiday heap! I liked selling jennyjen products in Pittsburgh, but missed getting to see old friends! So I hope to see some! I've been spending too much time in the sweat shop and not being able to spend time with the people I love. including my Patrick! So please ignore the icky weather and stop on bu the warmth of St. John's Church for your kick off for the holiday season!

Holiday Heap 2008 is a juried indie craft fair featuring over 50 renegade crafters from the area and beyond. A free event, open to everyone, and perfect for purchasing out-of-the-ordinary gifts for the upcoming holiday season. Held in the heart of Baltimore in the beautiful neighborhood of Charles Village, the fair will take place November 15th from 10-5pm at the 2640 Space at St. John’s Church (located at 2640 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, MD 21218). It is the Charm City Craft Mafia’s FOURTH fair of this type, and the second annual Holiday show. Look for Handmade jewelry, clothing, toys, ceramics, paper goods, knitwear, bags, accessories, soft sculpture, books and more! Music provided by Sleepy Records, Snacks provided by Red Emma’s Bookstore, Super fun post-shopping interviews with new local craft group HELLO CRAFT, and a chance to win the mother of all raffle baskets full of — you guessed it — goodies from all of your favorite Craft Mafia members, to benefit a local arts charity.
BEST will be there ! Come by and say hello!

UpCOming INfo

Again, I apologize for lack of posting. Life has been insane...between 5 big shows coming up back to back , being glued to the TV for this amazing election and then...the big news...I. along with a number of my BEST buddies, will be featured in December's Baltimore Magazine issue. They're doing a huge MADE in BALTIMORE feature that will highlight a number of DIY'ers craft people who make products by hand. I've been hired to make the feature title page out of felt applique and fabric...as well as do a tutorial on how to make my owl felt applique pillow! Oh so exciting...but there hasn't been much time to breathe! Patrick has helped me with my new postcards for the holidays...simple and to the point. Email me if you want one sent to you. THe front is from one of my new pillows with my new feathered friend...Mr. Rooster!

Being a Crafty Bastard

Being a crafty bastard means you are crazy busy, cutting and gluing, sewing and constructing, constructing and sewing, taking pictures and ignoring your blog. In fact I would be even more productive if I took my computer out of my sweat shop! I sold a tote bag today on my etsy site, that I had already sold at Hampden Fest! ugh:( I need a clone! So, I decided not to post my new items on my site, but post them here. So if you want it, you have to come to Crafty Bastards this Sunday in DC. I've been working on sturdy tool rolls that are lined with stiff interfacing and more narrative stitching on the exterior. More flap bags and I'm bringing back Otis the Owl tote with a chest of bric brac. So come on down for an afternoon or music crafts and fun! Map can be found here.

I've been working pretty hard this past month making new items and working on my photo's on my etsy site..I thought it better to get rid of my backgrounds and just use white backgrounds. Since it is the goods I'm trying to sell, not what's in my space. SO here is my up coming shows for September....
Catonsville Fall Fest , Sunday, September 7
Hampden Fest,Saturday, September 13 and
Crafty Bastards in DC, Sunday, September 28.

Friday Favorites...Broken Plate Belt Plates

The Broken Plate Pendant Company specializes in giving new life to old dinnerware, ceramics and anything else in my way. I love Juliet's intro on her etsy shop. Giving new life to ignored, thrown away, stuck in the junk drawer jewels is a big part of the diy phylisophy that I am still trying to grab my hands around. Juliet is having a great contest on her blog in which you have to guess the amount of plates she has in her basement! I can only imagine the stories tld around al of thse plates..the meals served...the day one had opened up a big gif box to see a set of plates.the days of glory for these gems. juliet has made them honorable again by making beautiful pendents with them. I particularly love these new belt buckels. I really need to get one...school starts on monday...meaning the paychecks are a coming!

new toys for the boys

before marching off to work this morning i decided to put all of Louie's toys into his "circle of 5" ...mr. grey catnip mouse..his favorite, Mr. piggy, Mr. bear and my green mouse. When we came home we notices the circle of five were all still there. Louie meowing when I asked him what the problem was....he continued to meowed.....I'm figuring it may be time for some new friends. I noticed minjae's etsy's site a bit ago on the front page of etsy that featured cat toys. I think once the fall pay checks come in...teacher summer salary now prevents me from spending mullah.....any who, check these out. I love the tighty whiteties!

new pilla's

i'm back to teaching...two weeks of teaching at MICA...great kids....very excited about their progress already..visual thinking through collage and an oil painting class.teaching during the summer is not easy....your brain is turned off in the teaching way and you forget about time...what time is this class over?...and how to critique...and what am i teaching?....apologies kiddies...apologies. we're having a good time. i'll post some great artwork soon. in the meantime..i've made two new pillows and put them in my etsy shop and did not post anything about them on my blog..so here goes...its that summer brain thing again. I've made another birdbath pillow in a smaller version, as well as the clothesline version. I'll have to get back into the sweatshop soon...i have a couple of fall events coming up and then its the big get ready for Christmas rush!
