tune for the Day

As a kid I thought the bigger the woman and the better the momma...so of course I thought that Momma Cass had to be the best momma ever! Here's the tune for the day. I actually had a pretty good Monday, so this song felt right to post. Happy Memories!

New Banner for the Season

The weather in Baltimore is never predictable. In fact, I have to admit, I really like that about here. Last week I had to give in and turn the heat on, today I have the windows open. The leaves are changing and the season is definitely fall. My favorite! So I've changed my banner in the shop and added some new fall colors. Now, any help that I could use in how to get my image to be solid??? As much as I play that I know photoshop, I so don't know it. HELP! I've also have been slowly adding new items. I also posted my holiday schedule too!

Pics from Philly

Well, it wasn't the most profitable...but it was fun! guess how many vendor names were Jen? We really needed a ball to play four square. Being in a gymnasium in the Old Pine Center really made me home sick for Elementary School.

Melancholy Monday presents: Sonic Youth sing the Carpenters

I love this version...as a kid who actually owned most, if not all of the Carpenter's albums...as well as seeing them for my first concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion...this song seems to make my day today. Still hanging with this dreaded cold and feeling quite melancholy. enjoy....

Baking in a Jar...A Huge Success!

After yesterday's post, I couldn't stop thinking about this baking in a jar phenomenon. So I had to take a break from the sweatshop for some cooking therapy. I did some research on the jars and found them at my nearest ACE hardware..that I was so impressed with. We have a fairly new store by me in Waverly. The shop was clean and friendly and I couldn't believe the cookingware as well as the paint available. In fact just about anything you needed for home repair or beautification was there. And so easy to find as well as a very friendly and helpful staff!
Anyway, I bought my 12 8oz wide mouth jars for $9.99 and then went off to the grocery store to by my items for the week as well as my new adventure on chicken pot pie in a jar. I made a huge batch that I ended up freezing half of the filling and used the pie crust you find in the frig section in the grocery store..yes I was feeling a little pressed for time, so we went with the quick version. I also used the rotisserie chicken.
I made 5 pies with one of the pie crust. Whipped up some apple pie filling and made three apple pies in jars . Hmmm....very yummy and oh so cute. One chicken pot pie filled me up! So two more go into the freezer and the other two remain for lunch and/or dinner this week. You can find the recipe and directions here

Pie in a jar!

I'm loving this idea! I've been trying to expand my cooking confidence and have been cooking up a storm. Problem is I'm only cooking for one, not that my art department minds me bringing in my bake goods for all of us to munch down! You can get the whole shubang here

one reason why I teach

today I woke up not feeling too well...the old ear ache and porcupine in the throat syndrome...and yet, I had to admit, I am so lucky to get to do what I do everyday. I love my job. I absolutely love teaching. And yes today was my day teaching three classes in a row starting with my Fundamentals of art class of 33 , which goes right into my studio class who are painting with oil paint and full of messy Marvin's and then we get a hint of a break with, if I'm lucky, a 20 minute lunch with my buddy Tricia and then another fundamentals of art class which is a talkative GT group of only 22.....but I am so lucky to make a mark in this world. I am childless but I have many children out there...and i love them all. They always come through when I need them and they always, and I mean always make me smile! I had this song in my head with the wonderful memory of the first time I saw this movie at my grand parents house on a Saturday afternoon in the mid 70's. My sister had to watch it for a class she had in either junior or senior high...I'll have to ask her...but it made a very strong impression on me. My favorite movie and song to date!

Sweet Treasury!

Thanks Erica for including Otis in this sweet collection!
